We are a group set up by Blackpool S.U.R.F which is unique in Blackpool as its joins people together with a common interest in parks and open spaces, hence the name open spaces network. Ray Duffil was behind getting all the groups together and facilitated the meetings with the support of Blackpool council's parks department.
The members actually set the agenda with topics that concern them and others ranging from insurance issues, constitutions, help and support, antisocial behavior , policing, funding and advice from friends.
There are now 20 members in the openspaces network ranging from Allotments,Parks,Burial grounds and historic landmarks like(Little Marton Windmill) and we continue to grow slowly but surely.
We meet quarterly for our meetings and enjoy meeting old and new friends over tea and biscuits.
We sometimes have guest speakers on various topics of interest to us all.
The council help with specialist topics.
The osn have now opted to become a federation due to the insecurities of Blackpool S.U.R.F. so that we can still continue the good work friends of groups are doing in Blackpool.
