Update, 15th December 2010
Moor Park Pool is now closed for 16 weeks due to a very exciting development project.
The work around Moor Park is progressing well and thanks to a recent successful bid for funding, an extra element in the form of improved facilities at the swimming pool and leisure centre, the development will be great for sports fans too.
Plans for the centre, which is due to open in spring 2011, feature a state of- the-art health, leisure and fitness facilities and a library all on one site as well as the new health centre.
The changing rooms will be completely refurbished, providing vastly improved facilities with excellent provision for families, people with a disability and those on health referral programmes. In addition, the plant and associated equipment will be invested in, ensuring the long-term operational sustainability of the pool.
All schools and clubs have been informed of the closure in advance and they have all been to be accomodated at Palatine for the duration of the closure.
It is expected that the pool will reopen on or around 19 April 2011.
The Moor Park Health, Leisure and Learning Centre will provide the following community facilities:
• 44 station Fitness Studio
• Dedicated Spinning Studio
• Exercise Class Studio
• 4 court Sports Hall
• 25 meter Swimming Pool and Learner Pool
• Library and Learning Centre
• 2 GP surgeries
• Chemist
• Outdoor play areas
