ACCESSIBILITY
Blackpool4Me and Learning Blackpool are designed to meet the accessibility guidelines issued by the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Accessibility Initiative.
authors and editors of content in the channels that make up Blackpool4Me and Learning Blackpool are encouraged to bear in mind the different needs of individuals in their audience when they are creating pages of content
the screen layout is consistent as you move through the different channel pages - latest news, events and information pages on the left, channel contents and features on the right, and standard links
pages are written in a language (HTML) which can then be displayed on your screen by computers using different browser and operating system software, although they are designed to display at their best through Internet Explorer 6.0 in Windows and Mozilla Firefox.
images and buttons show a text alternative that can read by screen readers used by visually impaired people
the size of the text is chosen to achieve a balance between getting as much text on a page but at a size that is still readable. The default is 10pt., although individual channels may adopt a different size. You can change the size displayed on your screen by using the View menu on the toolbar at the top of your screen.
the fonts available to content authors are six clear and commonly used styles, with the default being Arial
the pages have been optimised to be best viewed with your screen resolution set to 1024 x 768 pixels. Options to change the resolution can be found using the Settings menu by choosing Display from the Control Panel.
the colours used in channel pages have been chosen to provide good contrast on your screen. You can however choose your own colours for your screen display by using the options available in your web browser.
Blackpool4Me is constantly being improved. We hope to add functionality and improvement over time.
