Using the Home pages template

Updated 21 Decemeber 2006. Always check the website for the latest version of this page.

A blank homepage is created by default for every new channel added to Blackpool4Me. When you reach your homepage select Edit Page from the options available to you as you Switch to Edit Site on the Edit Console.

The homepage for each channel follows a standard layout that users will soon recognise. The layout consists of a coloured strip that shows basic information about your group, and a space to the right of the strip where you can add an image and text.

Completing the first set of boxes in the template creates the strip. If any of the sections are not relevant to your group just leave them blank.

Panel colour.
This determines the colour of the strip on the left of your homepage, onto which the details below are displayed. Click on the colour of your choice - it will be displayed at the top of the colour palette.

Channel logo.
This is where you can insert your organisation's logo, if you have one, or a small photo. Keep this image small. See adding images into your page

Who we are.

Contact details.
Enter here any ways in which someone viewing your homepage can get in touch with you. The text adopts a default format for consistency, so there is no need to change the format.

How to join.
Enter details here of how anyone can become an member of your group. The text adopts a default format for consistency, so there is no need to change the format.

The last two boxes complete the section of the page to the right of the coloured strip:

Main image.
This appears above the main text on your homepage. Keep the width of your image to a reasonable size. See adding images into your page.

Main content.
This is the welcome message on your homepage. Try to avoid more than a screenful of text - more information can go on other pages. You can use the tools at the top of the box to copy and paste text, change its appearance, insert more images, links or tables, etc..See using the editor tools.

2. Countdown Target Date - Enter the date which is Day 0 for your event
3. Countdown End Message - Enter the message you want to be displayed on Day 0
4. Description - Enter the text you wish to accompany the countdown
