Everyone and anyone can become a broadcaster in this day and age simply because the technologies and the facilities are there, right at the consumers fingertips.

We all saw the crass stupidity of a Manchester Fireman being 'tumbled dried', and you have possibly seen some of the  - now regularly broadcast 'amateur footage show on the major news channels and in the newspapers and web pages. OK, some is just fun, but for a few individuals this area of technological accessibility is opening up some fantastic opportunities.

Much of the interest in the use of these technologies has sprung up from the ready access to computer publication tools - some of which are so easy to use, its criminal!  Just like to desktop publishing revolution of the  early 90's, what was a  'professional area' suddenly became something anyone could do with a Mac, a copy of pagemaker and a (yes - Apple was the first with one that worked) Laser printer.  Professional looking print was available to all!

The same is now true of video. All you need access to is a pretty modern computer (Mac or PC - but mMac has huge advantages here - not least that its the professional choice, but also it pretty much comes with everything 'out of the box' ie FREE!).

What if I want to manage my look and feel, offer subscriptions to my podcasts and streaming video, and closely integrate their aesthetics into a distinct package? In short, what if I want my content to have a Matt Tait look and feel?

I'd go ahead and set up my own Internet broadcasting center, that's what I'd do. In fact, I already have, using an Apple Xserve. No other system supports streaming and podcasting as deeply. I'll show you how simple it is to set up, and who knows, maybe you'll help drag broadcasting into the new world, too. CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING
