Digital Switchover Help Scheme

The Help Scheme explained

The Digital Switchover Help Scheme has  been set up by the BBC to help people to switch one of their TV sets to digital. If you are eligible for help, it’ll explain digital TV to you clearly and simply.

The equipment you need to receive digital TV is designed with your needs in mind.

    Aged 75 or over, or
    Receiving certain disability benefits, or
    Registered blind or partially sighted

If necessary the scheme can:

install the equipment you need in your home and make sure you know how it all works.
It may also be able to fit a new dish or aerial if you need one to make your new equipment work.

Over seven million households in the UK will be eligible to receive help. If you are eligible, you will be able to:

choose one of the set-top digital boxes on offer and receive help to install and use it
choose a digital TV recorder or a digital TV (for an extra charge) or
ask for advice on the options from different service providers.
