This summer the BEAT Nature Watch group are encouraging every one to help look after Blackpool's bats. Bats are sadly much maligned and in serious trouble at present suffering huge population declines. They won't get stuck in your air, don't make a mess in your loft and eat upto 3,000 midges and mosquitoes every night.
To help boost their numbers we are having a stock of 'flat-pack' bat boxes made and will be doing a road show, hosted by local Bat expert David MacLean, near you over the summer months. Everyone who comes to the roadshow has the opportunity to take home a free box, put it together (simple) and fasten it to a suitable tree or wall. All we ask in return is that you let us know when bats use your garden and hopefully your new box.
Details of the roadshows will be posted on the What's On page and in the local press - see you there.
