Blackpool and Fylde School mottos
Not all Blackpool and Fylde schools have mottos, but as far as I can tell, these are the main ones, together with details of the internal “Houses”:
Anchorsholme Primary: “Happy to Learn”.
Arnold: “Honor Virtutis Praemium“- meaning “Honour is the reward of Virtue”. Arnold School’s Houses are - Howarth, Liston, Pennington, and School.
Baines: “Nil Sine Labore” – meaning “Nothing Without Effort”. Baines School Houses are Founders, Whittington, Hodgson, and Hibbert (last two are now joined as Stafford).
Blackpool Grammar: “Meliora Sequamur” – meaning “Let us seek for the Best”. Houses were Alpha and Beta.
Collegiate Girls: “Meliora Sequamur”. Houses were Bowland, Longridge, Parlick and Pendle.
Collegiate High School: “Meliora Sequamur”. Houses are Port and Starboard.
Fleetwood Grammar: “Bonaventure” – meaning “Good Journey”. FGS Houses were Bailey, Grange and Wyre.
Highfield High: “Working Together”. Houses are Lune, Mersey, Ribble, and Wyre.
King Edward VII: “Sublimis Ab Unda” – meaning “Raised from the Waves”. King Edward’s Houses now are Ashton, Talbot, Lowther, and Clifton. They were Argonauts, Adventurers, Lancastrians, St Johns, and Templars.
Kincraig Primary: “Growing and Learning Together”.
Kirkham Grammar: “Ingredere Ut Proficias” – meaning “Enter in order to Profit”. KGS Houses are Fylde, Kirkham, Preston, and School – There also used to be Ashton.
Langdale Preparatory: “Ad Plene Vivendum Para” – meaning “Prepare to be fully alive”.
Layton Hill Convent: “Facta, non Verba” – meaning “Actions Not Words”.
Lytham College: “Concilio ex animis” - meaning “With wisdom and strength”.
Montgomery: “Learning for Life”. Montgomery Houses on opening, were Arnhem, Alamein and Tobruk.
Moor Park Primary: “Learning for Life”.
Park School: “Grow, Learn, Achieve”.
Queen Mary: “Sublimis Ab Unda” – meaning “Raised from the Waves”.
Rossall: “Mens Agitat Molem” - meaning “mind over matter”. Rossall’s Senior Houses are Maltese Cross, Mitre Fleur de Lys, Spread Eagle, Pelican, Rose, Anchor, Dolphin, Lugard Boys, and Lugard Girls. Middle School Houses are Stags Head, Dragon, and Falcon.
St Aidan’s: “That they might have life”.
St Bede’s: “Fons Sapientiae” – meaning “Fountain of Wisdom”. Houses are Bamber, Beesley, Cottam, Finch, Harcourt, and Haydock.
St John Vianney: “Seeking Growth Together”.
St Joseph’s: “In Cruce Vita” – meaning “In the Cross – Life”. Houses were Newton, School, Clifton, and Layton.
St Mary’s High: “Semper Fidelis” – meaning “Always Faithful”.
St Theresa’s: “Per minima ad maxima” – meaning “Through smallest things to the greatest”.
Stanley Primary: “Learning Together”.
Waterloo Primary: “Here to Learn”.
