Did you know a simple avocado could kill several kinds of animals?  Rabbits, cats, even horses can be victims of the poisonous fruit?

The fatal Parvovirus has returned to the Fylde.  Pups are particularly vulnerable.  Symptoms of vomitting and diarrhoea can only be arrested with early veternary intervention, however a vaccine IS available.  Please ensure your dog is protected.  If you are not sure it is worth checking with your vet if your pet has been immunised

Most people are now aware that the pollen from lillies can kill a cat.
Other substances also risk lives:
slug pellets and various garden products,
chewing gum (sugar free) containing Xylitol
Beware - chocolate can be fatal for dogs the better quality the bar the more deadly.  The only hope of saving a dog is to make him vomit and rush to the vet.  (Forcing a saline solution down him is the suggested way to ensure vomiting - dispite his protests!).
If a small animal walks on a floor polished with a Swifter cleaning pad it too can kill when they ingest the chemical by licking their paws
Please warn others of these dangers
At last - a slug killer which does not harm animals - Advances Slug Killer
from Growing Success

**NEW in addition to the risk of poison if an animal eats a slug there is  further risk.  That of Lungworm.  The larvae of which can be ingested not only from snails and slugs but also from their trails.  The slime may be on your pet's toys which will then transfer the insect to your pet. It was originally unseen in the north of the UK but has now spread up to Scotland.  If the symptoms are spotted in time there is a treatment.

Ask your vet if you see any of the following:

breathing problems, coughing, tiring, bleeding along with poor clotting, fits, losss of appetite, vomiting or diarhoera, spinal pain

Free speakers availabe from WSPA.
Various aspects of animal welfare can be covered in a presentation to suite
