Once you have taken over the tenancy of a plot, you are invited to join the David Slack Allotments Society. The purpose of the Society is to enable plot holders to come together and socialize, get to know one another and to give support and assistance to keep the site tidy and safe for the benefit of all. |
Membership of the Society costs just £5 per year, per plot, with all money raised going towards the overall maintenance of the site. Various social functions are also organized throughout the year to help in the raising of funds and improving relations.
Membership of the Society is purely optional but is strongly recommended as you are then included in the Allotment Federation Insurance Scheme which covers your plot for 3rd party liability. Plus, as a self help society, the more people who join, the more benefit is gained for the allotment site as a whole.
