Warming Tomato Soup

My bloke makes this soup for me.  When he first told me about it I was pretty sceptical.  It was the Cottage Cheese that put me off...Cottage Cheese in Tomato Soup?...in Tomato Soup? (read this along the lines of Peter Kay & Garlic Bread!!)
However, I absolutely love it, it is quick, cheap and really filling.
Now you can, if you wish, do the stalwart thing and start with a few pounds of very ripe tomatoes but frankly it is easier to buy a large jar of Passata - so the ingredients are:

1 large jar/bottle of Passata
1 Onion
1 tub Cottage Cheese either plain or with Chives
3 or 4 rashers of lean Smoked Bacon
Marjoram
Salt & freshly ground Black Pepper

Finely chop up the smoked bacon and the onion - gently fry the bacon in the pan, add the onion and continue on a gentle heat until the onion is translucent and going soft.  Add the passata and stir in to mix well.  Taste it and add salt & ground black pepper to taste - add the marjoram.  When you are nearly ready to serve the soup stir in the cottage cheese and mix well....done.  Get some hot crusty bread and enjoy.
