The Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association has the sole aim of serving all those people in the area affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND). This includes people with MND, their carers, family and friends.
MND is an incurable condition that paralyses the muscles leaving people unable to do everyday things the rest of us take for granted. Walking talking and swallowing become virtually impossible, yet the mind and senses remain intact.
Our objectives are to:
• Provide support for people affected by MND
• Raise money to help people affected by MND
• Raise awareness about MND within the Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde Branch area
Our branch is aiming to hold regular support meetings for people living with MND and their carers. These will provide an opportunity to meet with other people living with the disease, and to share experiences and ideas. Fundraising and raising awareness are also very important aspects of branch activities, and we organise several events throughout the year which are well supported.
The Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde Branch is completely run by volunteers. We are always interested in hearing from people who can help with events or who want to get involved with running the branch, or have ideas for fundraising or awareness in support of MND.
For information about the work of the Association, and up to date information regarding the disease, care and research, please visit the National Office website at www.mndassociation.org.
