The Cinnamon Trust is a charity with a network of volunteers who will befriend your pet, within your home, and can take dogs for walks or help someone disabled or elderly to clean out the animal's cage.  They can also foster a pet whilst the owner is in hospital.  For more details contact: www.cinnamon.org.uk

There are many organsiations which focus on the rescue of a specific breed.  This may be useful if you are looking for someone to care for your animal, if it matches a category.  Use the Lost page link to Catchat which takes you to the "not cats" page where dogs etc are listed by breed.

It is possible to adopt a small animal like a hamster or rabbit, not just larger pets.  See the link to Catchat on the Lost page.  Also visit your local Pets at Home store where small animals, in additon to those for sale in the usual way, are available for rehoming.
