Welcome Guest

How often do you go to the hairdressers?...ok what about the dentist? how often do you go to have your teeth checked? now what about the chiropodist?  I would think not as many go to the chiropodist as the hairdressers. Why?......I believe the reasons are these....

1. Image

Oh! although I said the word 'reasons' I can only seem to find one reason. A reason that seems to be the most important of all and above everything else. The word image. I've looked up the word image from the Chambers Compact Dictionary and this is what is says....1, a likeness or copy of a person, etc made in wood, stone etc images of the saints. 2, a close likeness he's/she is the image of his/her father. 3, a mental picture. 4, the reputation of a person, a company etc this scandal will harm the firms image. 5, the appearance of something in the mirror or through a lens. 6, a metaphor or simile. Now what do you
think image means to you?

I've talked about what the word image means now let us see how it comes into and affects our everyday lives.

* Keeping up with the Jones's e.g my next door neighbour has new curtains and I must have some also (even if it means going into debt for it e.t.c.
* Lets people think they are superior to everyone else.
* Puts pressure on people to buy more e.g new car, bigger house, children at private school.
*Needing
more
money coming into the household holidays, clothes e.t.c

Can
you
think of any more reasons how image affects our daily lives?

Have you noticed from all the above there is one major thing which has not been mentioned and that is 'greed'
but, haven't we lost all perspective? nevermind our outside what about our inner side? How can we really shine through to the outside world with love, peace, serenity, contentment and patience when all we think about is image? We can't it's impossibe.
