Reiki energy warms and recharges the body's own energies helping them perform more effectively and allowing to body to heal itself.
The word Reiki (pronounced raykey) is Japanese; it means universal life force energy. It is an ancient form of healing rediscovered in the 19th century by Dr Mikao Usui.
Energy is all around us, in every living thing, in the air we breathe and the earth beneath us. When our own body energies become blocked or unbalanced we begin to feel sluggish, drained and unwell.
During a treatment energy is channeled through (not from) the giver to the receiver. The receiver draws the energy; only enough energy is taken, and it flows to where it is needed most.
Reiki induces deep relaxation, soothing and calming. It works on many levels, physically, spiritually and mentally so that we are once again returned to a state of total balance.
During a treatment you may have a feeling of lightness as if you are about to float away, or alternatively, a feeling of heaviness and of sinking into the couch. This is because your body is becoming very relaxed. You may feel quite light-headed or even weepy as emotional blockages are released. This is all quite normal and part of the healing process.
The very least you will gain from a Reiki session is a feeling of calm and deep relaxation. It strengthens and clears the mind, enabling you to look at life from a different perspective; helping you to cope better with the usual stresses and strains of daily life.
Go on, give it a try. You will be surprised! It could change your life!
