Does Volunteering Affect State Benefits?
One of the most frequently asked questions is 'Will volunteering affect my benefits?'
The answer is NO!
If you are on Job Seekers Allowance
you can volunteer as much as you like but must be actively looking for work and available for interviews for jobs or with your Job Centre Advisor.
If you claim Income Support
volunteering should not affect you as long as you are not receiving any money other than reimbursement of expenses.
If you are in receipt of Incapacity Benefit
you can volunteer as much as you would like to.
We do advise that you inform the Job Centre if you are in receipt of any State Benefit and volunteering.
If you wish to volunteer or you are a volunteer involving organisation and would like a more detailed explanation please click

If you are in receipt of Incapacity Benefit and would like to volunteer please telephone 01253 301004 and ask to speak to Claire.
