Welcome to Tower View Community Credit Union!
What's a Credit Union?
It's a cooperative savings and loans scheme owned and controlled by its members. Every credit union is regulated by the Financial Services Authority, guaranteeing that your savings are always safe.
How does it work?
Once you've joined, you deposit what you can afford each week at a collection point (see the list for one near you.)
Once you've saved regularly each week for thirteen weeks, you'll be able to apply for a loan, which can be up to twice what you've saved. You'll be encouraged to only borrow what's comfortable for you to pay back each week, and loans can be spread over one or two years. And the best news is, you only pay 1% interest a month on the balance!
While you're paying off a loan, keep building up your shares (savings). Saving regularly means you'll have something to fall back on when that inevitable rainy day comes.
So what do I need to join?
You need to be a resident of Blackpool - every Credit Union has a 'common bond', and Tower View's is that you must live within the town boundary.
You can join at any collection point - you'll need:
- photo ID
- a utility bill - ie proof of address. If you've been at your present address for only a short time, bring some proof of address for your previous house
- photocopies of both your photo ID and utility bill
- £2.50 joining fee
