Welcome to the free noticeboard where people can advertise skills and goods in exchange for different skills or goods of others

Perhaps you enjoy cooking but need
someone to tidy your garden, or you
 might have time to spare and enjoy
   babysitting but need transporting
    to an appointment, these are the
       occasions when Swoperoo
                      can help


How it works:
No money is involved, instead a virtual currency
of Talents is used in order to allow skills to be
swapped by more than two people.

To register: costs £1.00 per skill ( to cover administrative
costs).  Cheques payable to:

Either email or post your skill along with what you want
in exchange (eg. offering to iron and wanting a gardener).
It should include the following, for each skill listed:

Your name, email address & telephone no.

Skill you are offering and the value  ie one Talent per hour

Skill you are seeking

Once you register a skill or service (eg. dressmaking
or giving surplus bedding plants) your offer, along with your
telephone no. & email address, will be displayed on this
noticeboard with the value of the item you are offering.

Approximately an hour of work would be worth on Talent.
A single plant would not! but a whole trayful of plants being
given would also be valued at one Talent.

Your listing should usually appear on the site within a
week from the date that the cheque is received.

Someone else may be offering handyman skills which you
want and so a swap can be made.  If the person you want
to swap with does not want your skill, the swap can still go
ahead by crediting their account with the number of Talents
you agreed and your account will be debited by that number.
When a person does want your skill their payment to you,
of Talents, will be credited to your account.

Initially everyone who registers will be granted
                         Five Free Talents

This is to enable swaps to take place immediately, rather
than waiting until your account has been given credits.

Important
 - Usual precautions are necessary - contact are not vetted
and the agreement reached between people swapping is
the responsibility of the persons agreeing. 

 - This site is unable to settle any dispute arising.

 - No skill which is a danger or hazard to others will be
advertised.

 - No living thing (other than plants and garden produce)
can be advertised.  Animals needing re-homing should be
taken to the various animal charities who are able to check
prospective homes and owners.

 - Goods can be offered if not for money, without charge, but
registering with www.freecycle.co.uk may prove more useful.

 - The skill being swapped is valued in Talents but if expenses
are incurred these should be discussed and a fair system
agreed before the swap is made.  eg. driving somone on a
30 minute journey may only be half a Talent but the cost of
fuel may make the value of the skill into a whole Talent.
Agree this beforehand.

 - Handyman jobs if involving possible health & safety risks
should be discussed beforehand.  If you treat the service
as a favour done for a friend or neighbour it will equate with
the risks involved and if this is a sensible thing to undertake.

 - Babysitting is a popular skill, but parents are urged to apply
whatever safety precautions they would take in other
situations.  The site is unable to vet users, it merely
provides a free forum for users to meet each other.
