Improvement Agency
Care & Repair is Blackpool Council’s Home Improvement Agency. We provide a wide range of services aimed to help older and disabled residents in Blackpool live independently in their home in comfort, safety, warmth and security.
Who can get help from Care & Repair?
· Anyone over 60 years of age.
· Anyone under 60 years of age receiving both Income Support AND Disability Living Allowance
· In some cases private rented tenants and Blackpool Coastal Housing tenants can also benefit from our services.
Home Repair Grants and Loans
As a homeowner the responsibility to maintain your home is yours however Care & Repair may be able to help you access financial assistance in the form of a small grant or loan to help you with your home repair problems. (There are certain qualifying criteria you would need to meet.) If you do not qualify for grant
or loan assistance we may be able to help you access other forms of financial assistance, or refer you on to another service that may be able to help.
Our caseworkers will visit you at home to discuss your needs and advise you about the options available. We will then guide you through all stages of the process until the work is completed. The support we provide includes:
· help to identify what repairs, improvements or adaptations you need
· help with form filling and grant or loan applications
· help in choosing a builder, getting estimates and organising any work
· help to ensure a builder’s work meets satisfactory standards
· help to maximise your income through benefit checks, charitable sources and energy efficiency advice
· advice about the many services Care & Repair and other Agencies may be able to offer
