Younger People, alcohol and drugs

The Hub
People needing support for drug and alcohol addiction have even more facilities to turn to, with the launch of a new specialist service for young people.

‘The Hub’ is a new development dedicated to young people who misuse substances, and will create professional help for youngsters and their families.

Quite often people reach a turning point when they realise they need professional treatment for their drug addiction. Thanks to the efforts of the Council, the Primary Care Trust, the Police and other key agencies, quality support is available and people are accessing it.

Young people become embroiled in substance misuse for a variety of reasons, often associated with complicated issues, and the above Partnership has built up a series of successful services that are enjoying shorter waiting times than ever before.

Youngsters aged 18 or under, or concerned families members, can seek advice about substance misuse by contacting The Hub on 01253 476 010.

Adults wanting help should drop into Drugline, an open access service on Dickson Road, between 10 am and 9pm Monday to Thursday, or 10am and 5pm on Friday. Alternatively they can ring 01253 311 431.
