LGBT Alcohol Dependency Support Services
We offer support and friendship to the Lesbian Gay, Bisexual and Transgender population in Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre
Each of us are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender and settled in our sexuality.
One way or another each of us has also lived through problems with addictive or problem drinking. Some of us are alcoholics in recovery who have been sober now for various lengths of time from a few months to several years. Some of us are the partners of problem drinkers who have experienced the turmoil and upheaval of our partner's behaviour and found a way of improving our lives.
We are not professional counsellors or social workers. We share our own experiences to find a new and better way of managing life without the need for the drug - Alcohol. All of us have experience of other agencies and found them to be mainly based in assumptions of straight life. We are NON religous or spiritual and talk among ourselves and try and get through the day alcohol free by being freinds who have been there and understand the alcohol related problems you are facing or have faced
We are an brand new service and now in a situation to offer confidential advice on 1 to 1 basis if you are struggling with alcohol dependency where we can refer you to your local alcohol treatment proffesionals and also offer self help support groups for members of the lgbt community who are in recovery already from alcohol abuse, in comfortable and safe surroundings within Blackpool Town Centre , or if you feel that you would prefer to meet on one to one at first, then please contact Brian on 07933 589676 in complete confidence
We are not judgemental but offer friendship and support based on our own experiences of coping with an intrusive and destructive illness. Our members feel that they can open up and share their problems and hopes at our meetings where the assumption is that people are gay and that gay life is good and valid and deserving respect
Every one of us had found that it makes an enormous difference and removes an enormous weight when we realise that we are not alone and that others have experienced what was happening to us and found that with help they could cope and survive and actually improve their lives.
