Who We Are
The Blackpool's Local Strategic Partnership has a vision to make Blackpool a better place for all of its citizens.  This 'vision' is not something that can be achieved overnight, or by one single organisation, it needs the involvement of many organisations and people to achieve its challenging aims.

Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs) were introduced as a result of the Local Government Act 2000.  They bring together all statutory public services and private businesses, as well as the community and voluntary sectors.  The aim of the LSP is to ensure that all partners work together, to improve people's quality of life.

Local authorities (in this case Blackpool Council) are expected to take the lead in developing the LSP but they do not 'own' the partnership.  However, the Government expects the local authority to take responsibility and be accountable for ensuring that:

  • Membership is balanced between the sectors
  • Consultation and community engagement reaches everyone
  • Difficult decisions are addressed and resolved
  • The LSP is properly supported and co-ordinated
  • All partners are able to contribute to the work
