While most of us will be enjoying a summer break Caribbean countries are working overtime to try and stop the European Union (EU) forcing them to sign a trade deal that will leave thousands of people facing a desperately bleak future.

At the end of last year the Caribbean, which has some of the highest levels of inequality in the world, was pushed into initialling a trade deal and now faces immense pressure to fully sign up. There is widespread and growing resistance in the Caribbean to this deal which will threaten the jobs and livelihoods of thousands.

With just weeks to go before the deal is due to be signed groups across the Caribbean have launched a petition. And they are calling on people around the world to unite with them.
