Ward Funding

Since 2003, Councillors have had £10,000 each, per year, to spend within their ward on environmental or crime prevention projects.

The Hawes Side Ward Councillors have, to date, spent their monies on the following :

1.    5 x CCTV units with equipment to enable downloading of pictures
2.    Contribution to Waterloo Road Methodist Church Hall for community use.
3.    Contributions to 139 Watson Road property for community use.
4.    Provide "H" markings at pedestrian dropped kerbs of Bostonway
5.    Alleygates at Troughton Crescent, Marsden Rd, Swindon Ave & Malham Ave.
6.    Alleygates at Ryburn Avenue and Belgrave Road.
7.    Re-plant existing planter on Crossland Road  (Spring 2006)
8.    Contributed towards the cost of Crossland Road/Brook Street traffic alterations.
9.    Sum of £1250.00 to Palatine Library to increase the book stock

It is pleasing to report that at 31st January 2007,  the unspent total is £4.79.    So, of the £80,000 available since 2003,   £79995,21 has been spent in Hawes Side.

Cllrs Haynes and Hardy, having been re-elected to Hawes Side Ward, are already looking at a number of possible sites for alley gating and will continue to spend their Councillors' budget to improve the ward.   We are pleased to report a meaningful result when 2.4metre fencing was installed at the end of St Edmunds Road.   Hopefully this will reduce anti social behaviour in the area by removing an "escape" route.  We thank bSafe Blackpool, Evans Halshaw and North West Vehicle Repairs for their assistance, both physical and financial, in this venture.
