Moor Park

Councillor Kath Rowson and former Ingthorpe Councillor, Roy Lewis, are forming a “Friends of Moor Park” Group in partnership with our local Police Officer PC Nigel Percival.

Friends Groups can apply for grants to upgrade parks and return them to their former glory. If you would like to help, and to have an input into the restoration of our park, please ring Kath Rowson on 356866 for more details.

Best Wishes for a very Happy, Healthy and Peaceful 2007

Parcel Delivery Scam Warning

If a card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) stating that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number), DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER AS IT IS A SCAM.

Calling the number will connect you to a recorded message which will add pounds to your phone bill.  If you receive a card with these details, contact Royal Mail Fraud on 0207 239 6655 or ICTIS (the premium rate service regulator) at www.icstis.org.uk. This is currently under investigation by ICSTIS.

Ingthorpe Children’s Centre

The Children's Centre programme is based on the concept that providing integrated education, care, family support and health services are key factors in determining good outcomes for children and their parents. Building has started on the Children’s Centre on Kincraig Road (next to Kincraig School), and should be completed early in 2007. Thank you to the Residents who have already volunteered to join the Management Committee. This will help the Centre to become a community-orientated asset for all ages.

Road Repairs

Thank you to the residents who responded to the request in our Summer newsletter for information on any potholes or roads needing repair in the area. Kath Rowson reported them to Highways and arranged for payment from the Ward Allocation Budget. The majority have already been repaired.

Bispham Library

There are more than just books at our library! The new DVD collection is proving very popular, and the computers continue to be very much in demand.

The extended opening times, which your Councillors had lobbied for, have meant that more residents are now able to use the facilities. They are:

Monday 9.30am – 7pm

Tuesday 9.30am – 7pm

Thursday 9.30am – 7pm

Friday 9.30am – 5pm

Saturday 9.30am – 5pm

Winter Fuel Payment

To receive the Winter Fuel Payment for 2006/07 you must be aged 60 or over and getting a State Pension or other Social Security benefit (not including Housing Benefit or Child Benefit) in the qualifying week of 18 - 24 September 2006. It is paid out from mid-November. If you are eligible and haven’t received your payment, ring the Winter Fuel Payment Helpline on 0845 9 15 15 15.

Ingthorpe In Bloom

Our annual competition attracted an excellent entry, and the judges had a very difficult job choosing the winners! Congratulations to the green-fingered residents who were awarded prizes in the 2006 competition. The Mayor of Blackpool and Kath Rowson presented the awards at a very enjoyable evening at the Town Hall in August.
