Police Surgeries in Ingthorpe
Kath Rowson has been working with our local Police Officers to arrange local drop-in surgeries for residents. These are now in place, five days a week, at Kincraig Place Day Centre for you to call and discuss police issues with a member of the Ingthorpe Neighbourhood Policing Team at the following times
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday - 11.00am to 11.30am
Thursday and Sunday – 7.00pm to 7.30pm
Tory Haste to Close Rest Home
One of the first decisions of the new Conservative Council was to announce that they would be closing Cherry Tree Rest Home this year. Kath Rowson has spoken against the obscene haste and lack of consideration to elderly and vulnerable residents, and has also asked for assurances that Ashfield House isn’t going to be suddenly closed in the same uncaring way. At the time of going to print she has NOT received any such assurance.
Ingthorpe In Bloom
Despite the bad weather we’d experienced in July, there were 28 entries in this year’s competition. The judges, Ingthorpe Police Community Support Officer Dave Underwood and Tim Riley from the Parks Department, had a difficult time choosing the winners. The winners in the four categories were:
Front Garden: J Standaloft and P Graves
Back Garden: J Leadbetter
Hanging Baskets: J Leadbetter
Basket/Container Garden: G Longden
Details of all the awards presented can be found on Kath Rowson’s website at www.blackpool4me.com/kathrowson-councillor
Congratulations to you all, and our thanks for brightening the area with your hard work..
Postbox on Kincraig Road
The Post Office are dragging their heels replacing the postbox at Kincraig Road/Dumfries Close that was demolished by a car this summer. Many elderly reidents on the Dumfries/Kilmory estate are unable to walk to the postbox on Ashfield Road, so Kath Rowson has now taken up the fight to have it replaced as soon as possible.
Robins Lane
Kath has finally been successful in getting the overhanging branches cut back in Robins Lane. She secured regular clearing of the continuous fly tipping some time ago, but work to widen the path proved more difficult. Many residents have said how delighted they are with the improvement as they are now able to walk easily along the lane.
Kath is still pressing for the work to the new cycle path in the area to be started.
Safe and Secure Directory
Last year Blackpool Council's Trading Standards Team, together with its partners the Police, Care & Repair and Age Concern, established a home services directory known as the ‘Safe and Secure Directory’ for Blackpool residents.
The comprehensive guide of vetted traders provides residents of Blackpool with the confidence that traders who have joined the scheme are required to meet the conditions of membership, which includes checks by both Police and Blackpool Council's Trading Standards. Furthermore a conciliation scheme will be provided by the Consumner Advice Service to allay fears should consumers encounter problems with members they employ.
The directory is available from Trading Standards (01253 478395), Care & Repair (01253 651555) or Age Concern (01253 751747).
