Council Clamps Down On Fly Tipping

Blackpool Council is now much more actively pursuing and fining people who dump rubbish. This includes black bags placed outside your premises at any time other than the day that they are due for collection by the bin men.

Fly tipping is a major problem in the area, and we welcome this move by the Council. Far too much of our Council Tax money, which could be put to better use, is spent clearing up after inconsiderate fly tippers and litter louts.

Bus Shelter Vandalism

There is an ongoing problem with vandalism of bus shelters in the area. This has been reported to the Police and raised at the monthly PACT meetings.

The shelter near Ashfield House has had all the windows replaced and graffiti removed. Kath had to fight strongly for this as the Council had already repaired this and many of the other shelters in Ingthorpe numerous times. Unfortunately one window was almost immediately vandalised, and this will make it more difficult for Kath to obtain further repairs and new shelters in other parts of the Ward.

Parking at Bispham Endowed School

Your Labour Councillors were very concerned about the dangers caused by the lack of parking at this school. Mick Bradley-Wilcox liaised with Highways, and the result is extended parking on the Community Centre for teachers and parents to use. The £30,000 cost was met from Kath and Mick’s Ward Allocation Budget. The irresponsible actions of some motorists are endangering lives.

Speeding on Kincraig Road

Councillor Kath Rowson and PC Nigel Percival have met with concerned residents to discuss the ongoing and dangerous problem of traffic exceeding the speed limit on Kincraig Road. Unmarked speed cameras have already been successfully used a number of times on Ashfield Road, and PC Percival is now arranging for them to be similarly used on Kincraig Road.

Kath has also discussed the problem with the Council’s Highways Department, and will be funding road safety measures from the Ward Allocation Budget.
