If like me you have doubts on the Government's wisdom in planning to force Identity Cards on us come what may at a huge cost to be underpinned with a massive increase in the price for a new passport, you might want to associate yourself with the work of the pressure group 'OUR WORLD OUR SAY - GIVING PEOPLE A VOICE'.
The push is on to try and persuade Gordon Brown to drop the whole idea.
If the scheme does go ahead we shall all be required to submit ourselves to a detailed intrusive interview at one of the Government new passport offices - likely to involve the expense and the dislocation of a forty to fifty mile round trip since there won't be one in every town (Will Blackpool and the Fylde residents have to travel to Preston ?)
There we shall have our 'biometrics' taken - fingerprints, facial scans - just like any common criminal at the cop shop.
Then all this information will be stored for keeps on the National Identity Register, the biggest database ever to be compiled of citizens in a supposedly free country.
You can write to Downing Street and ask the Prime Minister, and another letter to Jacqueline Smith at the Home Office, Whitehall, telling them of your dismay and inviting them to drop the idea.
And you can send a Fiver (or whatever else you can manage) to help the pressure group send out its information packs:
Our World Our Say
7a Church Street
BRIGHTON
BN1 1US
And you can look at their website for further information:

Thank you.
