Councillor Granville Heap

It was with great regret that I heard of the death of our council colleague Councillor Granville Heap yesterday morning (Sunday 14th June).

A longstanding Conservative Councillor for Stanley Ward, and former Mayor - Granville was a really nice bloke.  He and I visited Bottrop (Blackpool's twin town) together in 2007, and I got the opportunity to spend a considerable amount of time with him.  He had a warm sense of humour, and a great sense of fun.

He will be greatly missed by all of his colleagues at the Town Hall.  My thoughts are with his widow, Anne, daughter Nicola, and the rest of his family at what must be a terribly difficult time for them.
