Heartless Tories reject half fare bid.

A bid by Coun Fred Jackson to reinstate the early morning and late evening half fare for all Blackpool pensioners was rejected by the controlling Conservative group at the June full Council Meeting.The voting was 13 for the motion and 18 against.Every Tory councillor voted against the motion trying to blame the Labour Government for taking this concession away on April the 1st.This was never the intention of the Government the change that took place was to extend the free travel from 9-30 till 2300 hours across the country,local councils had the option to continue the half fare scheme as the previous Labour adminstration had done.
We will continue to fight for this concession to be reinstated the Labour group on the Council believe it to be the right and proper action to take.
