Civic Pride Award (for update, see bottom of article)
The Civic Trust recently asked all councilors if they would
nominate a street within their wards to be entered for a Civic Pride award.
This award will go to the street which shows the residents
have some pride in where they live. It might be a street of tidy gardens or
clean well kept properties. The award will go to a street where it is clear
that the residents care about where they live and are looking after the area .
I have nominated Edmonton Place in Greenlands as I think the
area has a reel community spirit and although many residents are elderly it
shows that some of them really care about their street.
A few of them have partly taken over the care of the open
areas and especially the Day Centre Garden area, which is beautiful. Recently
both Councillor Ryan and myself spent a couple of hours with a few of the
residents weeding the pavements to help spruce up the area.

Update July 10th
Unfortunately Edmonton Place did not win but came close and the residents should feel proud of their hard work and acheivement.
However from this, some of the residents have expressed an interest in forming a gardening group for Linden and Edmonton Place. I will do whatever I can to help them get the group up and running.
