Free computers
Computers are available free of charge from the Blackpool computer club, and come with one month hardware guarantee.
If you think there is some 'catch' involved, there is not. 400+ computers have been given away to date. (June 2006) 1 per address, proof of address required.
About the computers
The computers have been donated by business/industry and will, on average, be about 5 years old. The machines are internet capable, subject to an internet connection being available.
All software has been removed, and will need to be reinstalled before the computer can be used. You will need a windows or Linux installation disk to do this. We will supply a Linux disk free of charge on request.
Ideal as a second computer or as an internet terminal to keep the virus/trojan off your main machine.
This offer is being made in the hope that you will sign up to the computer club once you have experienced the services we have available. However, there is no obligation (or pressure) to do so. When you collect the machine, you will have one piece of paper to sign, and you will receive 3 information sheets about the club.
