Family Links Nurturing Programme

The Nurturing Programme provides structured 10-week courses for parents and for children. It builds positive relationships based on four key ideas (constructs) arising out of research undertaken in the late 1970s by Dr. Stephen J. Bavolek, a pioneer in the development of family education in the United States. The Nurturing Programme is relevant to all adults responsible for children – parents and carers, professionals supporting families, staff in Early Year settings and in school. The Nurturing Programme reflects many of the aims in government policy and initiatives for children and families. These include the provisions of the 2004 Children Act, the National Service Framework for Children, the public health white paper Choosing Health and the Primary National Strategy for Attendance and Behaviour.

Who is this course for?

Any parent regardless of ability. It is suited to parents of toddlers up to teenagers. There is a crèche available if needed (but needs to be booked).

The Nurturing Programme supports positive behaviour and goes much further than that by exploring the emotional needs behind behaviour.
