Organisation of the Centre

The Board of Trustees, which shall comprise of not less than seven or more than twenty four persons shall administer the charity. The board's composition shall be as follows:
                    
                            a) not more than 14 persons from individual membership
                            b) not more than 3 persons from organisation in membership
                            c) not more than 3 persons co-opted by the board who may or
                                may not be members of the company.

The board may at their discretion admit to membership individuals and organisations which support the Company's objects, provided individuals must also live in, or demonstrate a longstanding commitment to, the Company's area of benefit. Elections shall be conducted in accordance with such procedures as may be specified by the Board in General Meeting. The Board shall endeavour to encourage the nomination of people who live in the company's area of benefit. In order to protect the democratic balance of the Board, the Board shall  also ensure that no more than three of its members belong to the same organisation in any official capacity, for example, office holder, employees or members of its governing body. The Board meets every 4 to 8 weeks, dependent upon the volume of business to be transacted and may set up such sub committees as it considers necessary  for the conduct of the charities business and with such delegated powers as it thinks fit.

The Board aims for to be as representative of the local community as is possible, actively encouraging membership from local people and users of the Centre and holding an annual membership recruitment drive to attract as varied a membership as possible. In order to ensure a fair and democratic balance within the organisations management, membership is restricted to a maximum of three individuals representing the same organisation.

A Chief Officer is appointed by the trustees to manage the day-to-day operations of the organisation. The Charity's place of business is Methodist Church buildings, Dickson Road, Blackpool.

The Community Centre welcomes new applicants to join our Board or Trustees especially if you have relevant professional expertise that you believe would make a valuable contribution to the running of this Community Centre.
