Our Monday Club is now into its third year and proves to be as popular as ever with its members. Every week we have up to 20 members that spend the day with us here at the Claremont First Step Community Centre. The club runs from 10am through to 3.30pm every Monday and is still at the incredible cost of £4.50. For that the members get breakfast, a 3 course lunch and afternoon tea; beat that for value for money!
Most weeks we have quizzes, bingo and card games. After breakfast there is a Tai Chi class with our qualified instructor Norma who also advises on diet/food issues as part of the class. Line dancing continues to be a regular and popular feature of the Club with our volunteer instructor Harold Thompson, this session suits our more energetic members of the Club working up an appetite for lunch.
We have introduced a savings club this year for the members, from which they have been able to enjoy several trips to the theatre, and meals out. The outing to the Grand Theatre to see 42nd Street proved especially enjoyable, so much so that members of the Club had to be restrained from joining the cast on stage. Meals out to the Squirrel Pub Carvery have also been enjoyed with return trips planned for those with a good appetite.
The Monday Club has also enjoyed day trips to various markets in the North West as part of our activities. The Club is busier than last year with the addition of new members and we look forward confidently to the year ahead.
